Disgruntled customers...

Disgruntled customers make a lot of different noises. The sound of SQUEALING TIRES is one I've keyed on lately. It happens at least once a week and already three times this week!

The field and store hours are on T2 brochures. The field and store hours are on the T2 phone message service. The field and store hours are posted on our T2 Welcome board. And for the folks that walk past the posted hours on the fence near the entrance and then stand outside the Pro-Shop beating on the door - the field and store hours are displayed in the window near the front door of the Pro-Shop.

I suppose if I drove all the way from Benton or Maumelle to get a CO2 tank filled, only to find the shop closed, I might be a little pissed too - at myself. It's been along time since I've taken out my frustrations on vehicle tires, maybe 35 years ago, when I was 17, in my Dad's truck!

I'm closed Monday and Tuesday, people. Get over it!

Paintball Week in Review

Yeah, there's a tournament in Chicago (rain destroyed the opening), and there's a big scenario game somewhere. And RAP4 probably released another milsim gadget for one of their machine guns. Here's what caught my eye:

Just another day in paradise...

Somebody want to tell me why the failing economy in Greece negatively effects the economy in the US. And what's up with Miley Cyrus. Where are her parents? And did you know the US has the technology to make a kick ass Surface Oil Skimmer but can't because it steps on proprietary resources of "other" countries? Yet when offered foreign help we turned it down. Meanwhile some heiress in Florida has left her dog Conchita 3 million dollars while her son bitches about only getting 1 million.

Oh, and here's a good one from Rhode Island:

Christan Morales says her 8-year-old son, David, was assigned to make a crazy hat for his class at the Tiogue (TEYE'-ohg) School in Coventry. She says they brainstormed and he came up with an idea to glue small plastic Army figures to a camouflage hat with an American flag. But she says David was not allowed to wear the hat for the project. Morales says his teacher called her to say it wasn't appropriate because it had guns, violating a school ban on weapons and toy weapons.

Maybe it's the heat. I don't know what's to blame in Rhode Island or Florida or other places but here in Arkansas it's definitely the heat.

Another lesson in Paintball Economics 101

Hey, big shot. Yeah you. Thinking you're God's gift to my paintball field cause you're shooting cases of paint.

No. Actually I don't need your business.

I would rather have the business of the 10 people you just scared away.

Stock economics...

It's a tough time to try and unload Tippmann stocks. Just a few months ago they were over $40 wholesale. The Chicoms have just dumped a ton of them on EBay going for $16 - including shipping.

Sucks when you have 3 of them sitting on the shelf that were purchased 6 months ago. That's our global economy at it's best.

Phhhhttthptttt. (The best printed raspberry that I can muster.)

Finding the first place paintball was played...

Here is a wrap up and some other links for anyone who has not been following this adventure.

Paintball party pooper...

I hate being a killjoy but there are times when I feel obligated.

Let me explain.

A young boy and his grandfather came into the shop to have the boy's marker cleaned and readied for a weekend birthday gathering. After grabbing a gun plug from behind the counter and putting it in the barrel I went about the routine of showing them how to clean and care for the gun. When done I always chronograph the gun.

This is where I ask the grandfather or Dad or player if others in the party will be having their guns safety checked. I know the answer, of course, and point out that I would never play paintball with anyone who hasn't had their gun chronographed before playing. This brings the usual "Why?" and I go about explaining paintball safety.

This scenario plays out a dozen times a week, mainly on Fridays.

Oddly enough, it seldom draws much comment from the customers. I usually get a shrug or an assurance that they will be careful. I'm sure they consider my spiel self serving. I'm sure they think I'm trying to scare them so they will pay a lot of money to play at my field. Fact is I don't care if people want to play in their backyards with no regard for safety or supervision.

I really don't.

Do I?

Multi-use Transmorgrifier...

Here is something I see a lot (The situation - not the marker!!). This hot little EBay item is described as "well maintained and would be great for a professional player or make a great kit for someone just starting out."

So which is it? Is this a marker for a professional player or a player just starting out?

Fact is, a professional player would not be caught dead with this thing and a new player wouldn't know which end the paintballs come out.

On the other hand I give it an A+ for "shock and awe." Anyone who has seen my "Tankinator" or "Frankenray" knows I have a soft spot for Rube Goldberg designs.

I think I'm going to bid on it just to get it off the market. It looks dangerous!

Which way did he go...?

For anyone who might be keeping score - May 25 marked the first day I missed at least one post a day since Nov 24, 2008. I promised myself, back then, as an exercise in writing, that I would post at least once a day.

I didn't set a stop date, or what I have come to accept it as - a "take a break" date. It, along with life, just kinda crept up on me. I'm still here. Paintball will always be important to me. It's time for me to re-learn there is more to life than what is found inside gelatin encapsulation.

Thanks for stopping by.

Mystery paintball thingie...

Gather around kids. I have a mystery part for you to identify. I've seen a lot of paintball parts and pieces in my time but this has me stumped. I think it is a paintball part. It came in a box of paintball stuff. There are two washers. The red disc has ball bearings that protrude out both sides. (Part ID#20203 TBS-025) Can anyone tell me what it is?

Oh, and the dime did not come with it. It's there for scaling purposes. But you all knew that.

D-Day and paintball

If you are going to D-Day Spyder is providing free MR4 rentals. It's their milsim marker. They also have 50 cal markers available.

On a personal note: 25 years ago on this date (the actual date of the invasion) I graduated from Army Jump School. A "wingnut" and a parachute. Some combination.
