Paintball etiquette...

So, here's my question. How do you break paint on this knucklehead? Yes, I said knucklehead. For all you wannabe Marine Recon Snipers does it even cross your mind how this look is going to go over for the other team. Maybe big scenario games have rules for taking out snipers. Someone straighten me out. For rec ball games at the local field - leave the ghillie suit at home.

Ghillie suits are one of the main reasons I won't play large scenario games (at least the ones where they are allowed). Ghillie suits are cool for hunting and have theri place in real warfare, but not in a game of ball tag where the main objective is to break a paintball on another player (or their clothing and gear).

I don't allow them at our field except in private games and then only if everyone in the private group agrees to it. Even then, if I get complaints from any of the participants, I make them take it off.

From what I recall of my looking at D-Day Oklahoma rules, there are some provisions for taking this guy out. Problem is I can't remember them.

But then too, these guys, because of the guillie suit I guess, actually tend to be even more honest about getting hit than other players.

At our field we tell Ghillie suit players that ALL hit count, even the ones that bounce.

For the most part they are very stand-up players and we rarely have to follow them.........but more often than not, the Florida heat drives them out of the suits after a game or two.

1. we either have a culture that encourages the following of the rules or of breaking them. On that level, doesn't matter what you wear (the tournament equivalent was wearing more than one jersey. get hit - slip it off.)

2. I understand that many players enjoy the 'idea' of being a sniper, but in practical terms, if you wear decent/appropriate cammo and have some woods skills, you really ought to be able to do the sniper thing without a ghillie.

What I look at are: the suit slows you down, makes you less manueverable & etc. Unless there were some major game bonus for getting eliminations as a 'sniper', it just really doesn't work.

What we really need for these folks is 'sniper wars', a game just for them.
