It's too hot to play paintball. Too hot to fish. It has even been too hot to write. Almost. I recently jumped into a subject that I'm sort of emotionally connected to. You can see it here if you're interested. It turned out to be a rather tame debate. Maybe it's too hot every where for any kind of heated discord.
Going to be out of computer range till next Wednesday. Hope you all have the greatest weekend.
If you are playing in all this heat please keep in mind that the water you drink on the day of play will help but it is not what is needed to ward off heat exhaustion or stroke. It's the water you drink the two or three days before you play that counts.
And no, beer and soda does not count.
Ref's - if you see a player who is not sweating while everyone around him or her is drenched take immediate action.
Let's be careful out there.
When ever a walk-on shows up with a super gun I will remind him (or her) a number of times that I don't allow sustained or high rate of fire. The player will invariable test my limits, laying out a nine or ten ball string at the start of the first game and I will remind him that three is plenty. If they are real ballsy they might try it one more time but in most cases they get my point and behave. On rare occasions I'll have someone complain or try to argue and I'll throw my "You have brought an Indy car to a go kart track" analogy. I don't care for big fish in my little pond.
What I find most interesting is the players that complain the loudest, the ones that want to rip a newbie or light up a young gun never take me up on my invite to come play with Team 120 during open practice. The team players all have Indy car guns, 13+ balls per second and play up close and personal paintball. Maybe little sharks don't feel comfortable swimming with big sharks.
In case anyone missed the cynical sarcasm in Thursday and Friday's post let me make it clear that I think Paintball Assassin Death Stix and Hemorrhage are both horrible names for a paintball product. Here and here are some other "Why don't you just shoot yourself in the foot" names I find objectionable.
