Things that make you want to wear a flak vest and a hard hat and work behind bullet proof glass!
So...what is wrong with this picture? Notice the part sticking out of the top of the regulator? It's not suppose to be there. What is it? Better yet - is it permanent or is it ready to pop out with about 800 PSI behind it?
It's the plunger part of a remote hose on/off. The player turned the knob past the point of on and the plunger kept plunging till it wedged itself into the regulator top. When he walked into the shop most new immediately what it was and dove down behind the counter. Being the brave field owner I am, I snatched the
potential bomb from the player, told him to come back in about a half hour and went outside to defuse the thing.
After a bit of yanking and grinding and cleaning I managed to put everything right. I briefed the player not to turn the on/off knob past the point of on and all was well. Just another day at the field.

Mick - I can't see the pictures!!! Any chance you can check the link.
A red X is coming out of the reg?!? Get out of here! :)
Link to pic is broken I think Mick.
that really is harmless...the pressure had to be gone from the tank because the reg pin was being pushed in by the remote piece rendering the tank empty...and if you tried to fill it it would just leak from the top of the regand never build up pressure....WATTS THE BIG DEAL??
The tank did not empty... the remote plunger was jammed in stopping the pressure. Question is (was) how long would the plunger stay jammed?! Fortunately I was able to release the tank pressure and remove the plunger before finding out.
